What is the OneMillionTrees movement?

The OneMillionTrees movement aims to restore nature back into our city through the planting of one million more trees across Singapore by 2030.

This is part of National Parks Board's efforts to transform Singapore into a City in Nature, which is a key pillar under the Singapore Green Plan 2030. Community is key to the success of this movement – so join us to play an active role in the greening of Singapore!

To date, 369,000 trees have been planted across Singapore under the initative ! Together, we can make a difference and restore nature back into our city!

Be part of the movement, Plant a Tree!

Why is the OneMillionTrees movement Important?

Trees play an important role in creating a liveable environment in our city.

They serve as natural air filters, providing us with clean air. Denser tree canopies reflect radiant heat and cool our surface and ambient temperatures through shade and evapo-transpiration, and help to mitigate the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect and climate change. Healthier forests also play a role in regulating the water cycle, slowing down floodwaters and cleaning the water that flows into our waterways.
By increasing greenery and planting trees in urban areas such as industrial estates, we can help to mitigate the urban heat island effect. These trees can serve as nature-based solutions to help provide shade and improve air quality, while beautifying the city. By joining this movement, a whole new generation of Singaporeans can build strong bonds and shared experiences with each other, and take on the role of stewarding the greening of Singapore.
As the years pass and the trees grow, they will provide shade and respite not just for us, but also for our future generations.
In this way, each tree planted is a symbol of how we as Singaporeans serve as stewards of our greenery, and our nation.

How can I contribute to the OneMillionTree movement?

Help restore nature back to our city and combat climate change by planting trees across the island!

With every donation of $300 to NParks' registered charity and IPC, Garden City Fund's Plant-A-Tree Programme, organisations and individuals will be able to plant a tree in one of NParks-managed green spaces.

In support of the movement, ATC will match $300 for every $1500 donated.

Your donation will support the cost of the tree and site preparation. Any balance would go towards helping outreach and education programmes and connect our local community with our natural heritage.

Note: Upon registration, your donation will not be collected immediately. We will process your registration and our officers will contact you for the collection of donation.
